I have had a full time furniture repair shop in N.E. Tarrant County for 30 years, and have been at this adderss for 13 years. Every piece of furniture that comes into this shop is worked on by me personally, and many of them are family pieces that need to be done right.
My name is Dick Ford, if you have any questions call me at (817) 485-8952.
At 8'3" tall and 5' wide, this is a good size armoire. American made and built with lots of curly pine around the 1880's, this piece is a very rare and wonderful thing. The wood is terribly difficult to work and would have tested the makers skill to the extreme, that's why it's rare and wonderful. The original finish was long gone and it was brought to me in pieces. Restored back to it's original color and beauty, with all the repairs strong and proper. The shimmering luster of the wood doesn't photograph, but is alive in it's presence. Because it's 100% solid lumber (no veneer) and so well made, it's useful service life could be up to one millennium. That is serious quality.
Most of what I work on is not as rare as this, but still just as important to the owner of each piece.
